Abstract
First open universities were established in 1970s,
and these were, among others - the Open University (United Kingdom) and
Fernuniversitaet (West Germany). In the era of information society, educational
systems have been evolving continuously owing to the development of the
Internet, digital communication, computer techniques, satellite television
and multimedia techniques.
Didactics supported by multimedia involves the use
of various technical tools and multimedia techniques based on the Internet
for educational purposes.
The first part of the thesis presents characteristic
features of didactics for the university of technology, which is to be
supported by Internet multimedia. Subsequently, technical mechanisms are
presented, followed by the empirical part, where Internet multimedia functions
are elaborated upon, with special consideration for streaming multimedia
files. The present thesis provides examples of open education systems,
where Internet multimedia are successfully employed. More attention was
given to a series of hyper-media lectures "Selected legal issues" held
by dr hab. Tadeusz Lemańczyk at the Poznań University of Technology.
The present thesis also includes an analysis of
the technical potential of the Lecture Center of the Poznań University
of Technology, which can be used for supporting didactics with Internet
multimedia, as well as for developing and providing multimedia materials
for the open education portal, similar to the examples that have been put
under analysis in the present thesis.
